collection 2 in progress
“This poetry compilation is an incredibly moving and intimate journey through pain, resilience and healing. Each poem is a window into the life of a young girl shaped by a traumatic childhood. There is an incredible amount of emotional range throughout this collection. I often smiled warmly while reading about her experiences as a mother herself and other times I was left crying profusely for the child she was.
Each poem unfolds into the next in a transformation. The narrative shifts from survival to self-awareness, and eventually to empowerment. The turning point, when she becomes a mother, is especially profound. It is through her children that she begins to confront her past, not with denial, but with courage and intention. Her conscious decision to break the cycle and create a different life for her children is inspiring.
This is a story of growth, reflection, and the quiet strength it takes to rewrite one's own narrative. It leaves a lasting impression of hope, love, and resilience with its readers.”
“Somehow, even though the author is literally writing her own story, she managed to make it feel like she’s offering something to others. There are aspects that had me grieving for my own inner child and the things she went through. I think that these words will resonate with a lot of people.”
“In the first half, I felt like I was breaking and filling with rage. As the second half went on my tears turned to ones spawned in relief and the rage of a battle cry. The journey was phenomenal.”
“Therapy… a beautifully written book that is a must read. The collection should be read in sequence to fully understand what the author it trying to portray; you can feel the vulnerability and sadness turn to self-acceptance and love, making this an extremely hard book to put down once you start reading. The book is very personal, but while reading it you can feel the empowerment it has given her and hopefully through it others can also find peace.”
“While reading through poetry is… therapy, my heart ached for the little girl that just wanted to be loved, cuddled, and reassured that she mattered. Tears welled as I thought how I could’ve held that little girl and told her how much she was loved. KP Hays, writing out all that was in her heart, sharing with whomever needs and wants to know, has found healing. Hopefully others can embark on their own healing journey as she has.”
